Awesome! |
I love this product. If your negative is in good clean condition and the photo was a quality photo then when you scan the results are awesome. I had a few that I knew the picture was not that great and of course that is the results you get when you scan the negative.
This is a wonderful little gadget well worth the money, it is time consuming to sit and scan your slides and negatives but I do it while I am watching TV or chatting with my family. I give it two thumbs up!
I am retired from the Navy and did photography everywhere I went so I have tons of negatives to go thru and man am I having fun bringing back memories!!!!! |

Cheap toy |
Picked it up at Costco today for $50 and was impressed by how easy it was to install the software and get the device working. Unfortunately, that was about it for being impressive. The scanner sensor is very noisy and it appears that lens quality is not all that good. I'm only making this conclusion based on the aggressive sharpening employed by the scanner software. Saving pictures in TIFF format hardly makes any difference in quality and when viewing scanned pictures at 100%, edges of objects are covered in sharpening artifacts. I suspect if there was a control over sharpening, things would have gone better, but current driver has no such control (or any other controls, really).
The device is going back to Costco tomorrow.
P.S. When they say it does not work with OSX, they really mean it. |

Works with windows 7 |
|
Tried to use this with my windows 7 dual core computer and it worked but very slowly. With my windows 7 quad core computer it works alot better.Picure quality is pretty good.Easy to use.So keep in mind that you probably need a quad core processor to be happy with this.Thanx costco, can`t beat it for 50 bucks,at time of writing. |

Good product with acceptable results for the price |
|
Basically, I just wanted to get my slides converted to digital without spending a lot of money. This is a fairly basic converter which has produced acceptable results for my use. Set up was easy and the drivers installed without any problems. I'm using Windows XP. Scans are quick, probably less than 5 seconds for the picture to display in the software. There can be noise in the scans. The software includes Photoshop Elements 5 for post processing, which works fine. I was able to get better results with Photoshop CS2. If you have a lot of "special" slides I would suggest using a professional lab or looking for a more substantial converter. |
