Speco Technologies CVC-318WP Fully Submersible B/W CCD Bullet Cameras with IR LEDs

Jas-store.com Product Description
The Pro Video CVC-320WP B/W Waterproof Bullet with Infrared LED Lighting and 60-foot Cable is great for any outdoor application. Constructed of durable black-finished brass, this camera is fully waterproof and can operate submerged in water up to 90-feet deep. Designed to provide a high-resolution picture even in low-light and no-light conditions, the Pro Video CVC-320WP is a great addition to any video surveillance system, especially in applications subjected to extremely inclement weather conditions.

This bullet camera utilizes a 0.33-inch black-and-white CCD (charge-coupled device) image sensor with a 3.6-millimeter wide-angle lens, and provides 512-by-492 effective pixels. The CVC-320WP has a high resolution of 420 horizontal TVL (TV lines), and achieves a S/N (signal-to-noise) ratio of 48 dB or better. Already extremely sensitive to light with a minimum illumination of 0.02 Lux to infinity, this camera has eight built-in IR (InfraRed) LEDs (light emitting diodes) that allow it to receive a picture in total darkness (0 Lux) within a limited distance. The Pro Video CVC-320WP operates on the EIA (Electronics Industries Association) scanning system, and includes a standard BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) video output. This unit runs on 12-volts DC power and can operate in temperatures ranging from -14 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The CVC-320WP comes complete with a built-in automatic electronic shutter with speeds ranging from 1/60 to 1/100,000 of a second.

Technical Features:

  • S/N ratio: better than 48 dB
  • Minimum illumination: 0.02 Lux to infinity, 0 Lux via IR LEDs with limited distance
  • Effective pixels: 512 by 492 pixels
  • Horizontal resolution: 420 TVL
  • Operating temperatures: -14 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Dimensions: 1.5 x 2 inches (diameter x depth)
The Pro Video CVC-320WP camera provides you with a high-quality B/W picture from a camera that can go virtually anywhere, and deserves serious consideration as an addition to any severe-weather security system. The CVC-128RS comes completely assembled and ready to use, and includes a 60-foot cable that allows you to place it virtually anywhere. Users should note that the CCD sensor may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the camera should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources.

About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.

Infrared Video Camera works great but instructions were lacking
I bought this camera to record the wildlife coming to our deer feeder and watering trough at night. I had a heck of a time getting it to work. The instructions were minimal and sadly lacking. The camera quality is great. I finally contacted the manufacturer and they were wonderful at helping figure out how to connect it. I was told that it connected easily to my VCR. That is correct if you know how. You have to use the RCA adapters that have the yellow plug either on the front or back of your VCR. I thought I was going to just hook it up coax style but it won't work that way due to the RF nature of the signal. I was going for cheap and did not want to spend the money for the DVR for a more permanent setup. The nice thing is that I can use this camera to 'add-on' to a more permanent security system later on. You need to get a BNC F to RCA adapter. I went to a Radio shack where I lived and the guy there told me I could not do this and it would not work. I went to a different radio shack and got what I needed. There is no sound with this camera but I just wanted to see the wildlife anyway. It has a distance recording capability of 60 Ft. I moved it to about 15 feet from the feeder so I could get a better video of the wildlife. I saw many deer, including the babies, racoons, and something I could not tell what it was and finally a big black hog!
