Highly suggest DO NOT buy - ballast design defect is a known issue |
My guess is that most positive reviews of this item were written shortly after purchase. Mine would have been very positive also, IF I had written it in that time frame... However:
Even though they were pricey, I initially loved these lights when I purchased them for sewing and craft projects (I bought two). The light quality was very nice. However, one ceased working in under a month, and the other in less than 5 months. As one usually does when a lamp "burns out", I replaced the bulbs, but was then baffled as to why the lights still didn't work.
After checking the soundness of the bulbs and the wiring, I finally contacted the manufacturer, and after conversing in email with a somewhat surly "customer service representative", who preferred to "shout" her emails in all capital letters, it was determined that the ballasts had failed on both lights (and that it was a known and typical issue!!) and the lights needed a fairly expensive ballast replacement - at my own expense!
I was astounded that a known product defect has not been addressed by the company, and furthermore, that the company chooses to handle customer problems related to this defect by charging around $70 apiece for replacement ballasts of the same design, which have an equal chance of failing fairly soon.
I chose to discard both lights instead of purchasing new failure-prone ballasts.
I own 3 of Ott's smaller table lights, which have been working well for years, but I would absolutely NOT recommend the Full Spectrum EasyEye Natural Light Floor Lamp. |

Full Spectrum Easy Eye Lamp |
It was difficult getting used to the difference from incadescent lighting
but now that I'm used to it, I'm really enjoying the extra light. |

will probably break down in 3 years |
While they may rightly claim that the light bulb will last for long time and that it takes very little electricity, but you still won't save any money. This is because the ballast would likely go bad in 2-3 years, as it happened to mine. The ballast cost around $70.
Other than that the white light is great as it should be. |
