Nice unit |
I installed this Vega fence on my Jet contractor saw. I had to make a few modifications to the brackets, but nothing major. The fence is rock-solid, and light years better than the stock fence that came with the saw. The micro-adjust mechanism doesn't work, but it really is a minor detail to an otherwise great fence. I don't need my cuts to be accurate to 0.001 inches; this is wood, and not an instrument on the space shuttle. I loosen the fence lock, give a gentle tap one way or the other, and re-lock it.
I looked at many aftermarket fences before I purchased this one . I highly recommend it to others. I only regret that I waited so long to make this upgrade. |

Great Fence |

Purchased this fence for my 10' delta contractors table saw instead of the 26" rip fence as it was on sale for less then the 26" rip fence and glad I did, the additional rip capacity is really nice. This is a nice quality fence and glides across my saw with one finger, unlike the fence that came with the my 20 year old saw. Installation was easy but the instructions and not very good, however, it was easy enough to figure out and took me about 1 hour to install. Purchased the Pro Finger Saver with the fence, save you money and don't buy this, does not work very well. |

The micro adjust sold me. |
I got by fine with the orignal fence on my 20 yr. old delta unisaw after fine tuning it. I liked it because the fence clamped on the front and also the back bar guides. This made the fence rock solid. But recently I've been on cabinet jobs where I needed repeatablility when ripping.
The micro-adjust wheel on this Vega is worth the price of admission. Very easy to adjust to an exact dimension with the micro wheel. No tapping the fence back and forth to get to the right setting.
I matched the fence up with a Wixey digital fence gauge. I ripped as a test, 4 boards to 1-15/64ths, moving the fence each time and resetting it, all 4 ripped boards were exactly the same, when measuring with digital calipers. The fence slides very smooth. Although it doesn't clamp on the back guide bar when you lock it... the deflection is pretty minimal.
I looked at the Incra fence which has a nice setup for repeated adjustments, but the design takes up a lot of space on the saw and shop. I have a long but narrow woodshop. I would have had to hurtle or limbo over/under the saw & fence to navigate around the shop.
I'm very pleased with this fence, and adding the Wixey digital has made measuring cuts on the tablesaw less tedious and very easy. |

Good Value, Good Product |

The difference between this fence and a Sear's standard contractor's saw fence is like day and night. This fence is solid, moves easily, and you don't have to worry about it not being parallel to the blade or budging with use. Life before adding this fence was the opposite, frustrating with a lot of time and wood wasting. Installation is relatively easy . . . well under an hour. I studied the more expensive options before purchase and am happy I made the decision that this product delivered equal value and quality for significantly less money. One negative. It was delivered without installation instructions or any documentation and getting instructions faxed from the manufacturer took over a week. |
