I used this hole saw kit to drill holes in a granite counter top. It worked well, but I was a little surprised when I realized that the hole saws don't have an arbor or drill bit in the middle to help align them and keep them drilling straight. As I was unable to get my large piece of granite up on a drill press, I first used the bit to drill a hole in a piece of wood then clamped that piece of wood to my counter top as a guide. I then filled the hole with water to cool the hole saw and I was able to drill down through the granite with a hand drill. It worked well, but I was expecting the saws to have a center shaft that would keep the bit centered on a pilot hole. Of course it would have been harder to keep the cooling water against the cutting surface if the bit had had a center arbor. |
