Product Description |
Myron Bolitar is a hotheaded sports agent with a fierce wit, a taste for Yoo-Hoo, and a penchant for falling into jobs he doesn't want--think of him as Jerry Maguire as a reluctant private eye.  In this remarkable novel by Edgar Award-winning author Harlan Coben, Myron is asked to keep an eye on the star of the new women's basketball league who's been receiving threats on her life.  Myron takes on the seemingly innocuous task, figuring he'll pick up the star as a new client.  But soon her beauty and her quiet strength have him falling for her terrible story--the mother who disappeared twenty years before and the father who was recently discovered murdered--as he moves headlong into a case that prevails against his own better judgment, maybe to win her heart, maybe to save his own.  The answer is at the end of a narrow trail of lies, lust, and murder, where one false move can cost both of them their lives.
Combining riveting suspense, quick wit, and relentless energy, Coben proves he's at the top of his game with this endlessly entertaining and totally inescapable novel. |

Jas-store.com Review |
|
As readers who have enjoyed his appearances in original paperbacks already know, Harlan Coben's former professional basketball star Myron Bolitar is not your everyday testosterone-enriched jock. Myron is a mild-mannered guy who drinks chocolate soda and until very recently lived at home with his parents in suburban New Jersey. In his hardcover debut, we find Myron sharing a New York apartment with his longtime lady friend, writer Jessica Culver, and still running MB SportsReps, where he ostensibly manages the careers of other athletes, but really spends most of his time playing private eye. The arrival in Myron's life of rising pro basketball star Brenda Slaughter seriously tests his commitment to Jessica, who is in Hollywood working on a movie. It seems that Brenda's father Horace--Myron's old coach--has disappeared, and Brenda is receiving death threats that might involve a gangster family's plans for a new female professional basketball league. Or the threats might have something to do with Brenda's mother's connection to a wealthy New Jersey political family. Myron and his banker friend Win, a preppy with a penchant for violence, are more than enough to double-team the bad guys. Previous Myron Bolitar games in paperback include Backspin, Deal Breaker, Drop Shot, and Fade Away. |

My Favorite auther |

I love, love, love Harlen Coben's books/writing. The Myron series is just the best and I look forward to him returning them to paper. You won't be disappointed in this, or the other reads. From the first paragraph to the last, it is a page turner. And the humor that comes from Myron and his co-stars is just icing on the cake. |

Maybe the best MB novel |
|
You really should read the Myron Bolitar novels in order to see the characters evolve. This book has all the trademarks of all the MB books-its hilarious, action packed, unpredictable, and satisfies at the end. I don't know if there is a better series out there than Myron Bolitar. |

My Favorite Bolitar Novel So Far |
ONE FALSE MOVE is the fifth novel in Harlan Coben's "Myron Bolitar" series about a sports agent who solves crimes related to his clients. I think it's the best in the series so far.
I read a ton of thrillers, and Coben is one of the most consistently entertaining writers in the genre. He's a first-class plotter, and his characters are both funny and endearing. While Coben is best known for his more recent standalone thrillers, his Bolitar novels are also well worth seeking out.
ONE FALSE MOVE, in particular, showcases Coben's many strengths: it is very tightly written, moves like lightning, and is both funny and suspenseful. There are also several moments, involving Bolitar's personal life, that are quite emotionally touching. Overall, this is a first class effort by a great storyteller.
Although you can read the Bolitar novels in any order, I recommend reading them in sequence (starting with DEAL BREAKER) to maximize your enjoyment. |
